“The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Celestisna Kalu, told Crime Watch Today that the stolen PVCs have been recovered and a total of 7,365 cards were seen.”

Kalu said, the police “arrested one Aputu (46) of Oji Aputu Compound, Onyobulu Inland Market Road, Oghara and recovered one of the stolen INEC registers from him.

She said investigation was ongoing while efforts were being made to ensure that all those involved in the crime were arrested.  She said the PVCs have since been handed over to INEC.”

Meanwhile, the police command is investigating two persons for a robbery in Ugheli.
The suspects were handed over to the police by  youths from the Oviri Olomu in Ughelli South Local Government Area.

Police spokesperson, Celestina Kalu, who confirmed the arrest, gave the names of the suspects as Nicholas  and  Shelter.  She told Crime Watch Today that when the suspects were searched, one locally-made pistol was recovered from one of them.

Kalu commended the youths for arresting the suspects  and quickly handing them over to the police without resorting to jungle justice.
She assured the youths of police diligent investigation into the matter warning criminals, especially armed robbers and kidnappers to leave the state or risk the wrath of the force.
